Default I'm confused by car names.

Hi guys and guyesses,
I am the proud owner of a Jaguar and if I am asked, "what kind is it?" I can trot out the following ....
It is a 1995 Jaguar XJ6, straight 6, 3.2 litre (X300) automatic saloon.
There just has to be an easier way to get the facts across without the listener getting confused with V8 monsters and such like.
Is there a far simpler way of describing my car to folk who understand Jaguars? I ask because "It's a Jag" will normally do for non car buffs but car folk need a bit more info.
Cheers, m'dears,
Steve

Drive careful. There are some nutters on the roads these days.

"It's a '95 Jag XJ6" would work for me.
If they are interested they can ask questions to find out more, if not we're done.

And while we're on it...Is the 3.2 called the AJ16 like the 4.0?

Also, did the 3.2 get a market in the U.S. or was it only for GB and Europe? I've never seen a 3.2 in my part of the world either out or for sale.

Right.

Remember the 70s when manufacturers, especially Japanese, who put the entire spec sheet on the back of the car using jazzy emblems?

"Toyota Corolla LX Sport 1.8 DOHC EFI 5-speed Air Conditioning"

Make, model, trim pakage, suspension package, engine size, cylinder head type, fuel system, transmission and...and...air conditioning !

Cheers

Its a Jag and its an XJ the trim is base aka XJ6 (the more luxuries ones are Executive Soverign and Daimler)

3.2 L is called AJ16 aswell yes and as stated before weren´t offered in the US.

X300 is the modoel code and that realy tells you what body type your XJ has.

Started with serie1 series2 series3 XJ40 X300 X308 X350
