Default Interior door handle fixed for $2

When an interior door release handle breaks its because the cord that’s attached to the handle breaks off at the end. At the end of the door release cord is a ball end that serves as a cable stop. When the ball breaks it the same as the knot breaking on a piece of thread that goes through a needle. To fix the cord with out having to purchase an entire handle and cord set-up; you buy an independent cable end stop shown in the picture. They cost about $2, it's just like threading the needle, this little maneuver will save $150. I hope this helps.

Thanks for this!

My driver's side interior handle just broke this morning. Haven't pulled it off yet, but this is helpful either way

I posted something on this sometime back as I'd repaired both my door handle cable mechanisms.
As for the cable stop you can also use a small electric cable connector block. These are very cheap and for those who don't know what I'm talking about, it's the small block in which you can insert 2 or more electric wires and screw down to secure them. If you just want to use the metal bit in the centre then just cut away the plastic outer insulating material.

Well I gave it a go today with the cable stop pictured by OP.

I found that when I got the cable seated and the handle operating, it blocked the locking mechanism

How did you work around this?
