Default Interior mirror function

Does your interior rear view mirror actually adjust for glare? On mine the little light glows brighter the closer a car behind me gets but the slider control does not seem to have any effect on the mirror darkening.

Looking from the side mirror to the interior mirror I seem to notice a slight decrease in glare but not a whole lot. How well does your mirror work?

Mine is ghosted over . The edge trim comes off without removing the whole unit and I will replace with regular mirror glass . Made a pattern from the edge trim somehow . Just have the pattern laying somewhere .

Three are three options of the interior rear view mirror. See Jaguar Classic Parts' diagram below:

Mine is #3, and does dim the glare from behind automatically. It comes with an electric cable and there were discussions about compatibility of one with three and four wires, and ways to fabricate either to fit.

However, the glass on my mirror is becoming cloudy so it is about time to replace it. Unfortunately, to get an exactly same mirror will set me back by about GBP200, and a used one is typically priced around GBP100. Didn't know the difference a year ago and bought one that appears is the basic one (#1 in the picture). The shape of the mirror casing is more angular, and it does not have the dimming function, just doing the basic thing as a rear view mirror. #3 one seems to work best and blend perfectly with the rear window.

Mine is #2 in the illustration with the slide control. The glass is not clouded it just will not darken with the slider control.

You need to have it refurbished. Just north of $100, I believe. There is a guy here in the DFW area that does them. A search will turn up contact info. Just ship it to him, he'll fix it and ship it back, only a 1-2 day turnaround on his end.

Meanwhile, when I get a chance, I'll find the info and link it back here.

Found it! There may be others, but this one worked quite well...I also have #2.
