Default Jag, should I?

I currently drive a 2001 Mercedes E320. Great car. Put on about 60,000-70,000 miles a year. After living in a car for a year I get pretty bored with it. Bought it with 72,000 and now has 154,000 after 16 months.
Looking to replace the E320 with a Jaguar. Thinking about a 95-97 or 2002-2004 XJR.
My question is, how do you think the Jag would hold up putting that much mileage on in a short period of time? Which year would be better?
Just stay with the Mercedes and be happy?
Thanks!

Jags by nature don't object to high miles. With a bit of care they'll soldier on darn near forever, it seems.

Of course much depends on finding a good one to begin with. The market value on Jags drops so quickly that many suffer owner neglect fairly early on in their lives. And a 95-97 will be several years older and have several more years of either neglect...or proper servicing....under its belt.

I'm don't know how the Mercedes has treated you in terms of repairs so I'm uncertain about your expectations but I can say that a 8-10-15 year old Jag with 80-150k miles WILL need some repairs at some point. Water pump, wheel bearings, suspension bushings...things of that nature.

Cheers

A well taken care of 95-97 will run well into the 300K range. The base xj6 are not fast cars and the XJR is a pig on gas.(14 city and 20 highway) They have some pep. I have a 96 XJR and a 04 XJR. The 04 is an completely different car to drive. They do have some bugs and most people recommend gettting a 05. Driving both.....the 04 blows away the 96 in every way. WAY faster, better gas mileage (17 city and 25 highway), larger everything and aluminun body. The 96 have shown they will last until they rust away. The 04-09 are still too young of a car, but the quality seems pretty high. The only bad thing I can say about my 04 is I have to concentrate to drive her. ALOT of torque down low and she loves to spin the tires

One more thing, I would stay away from the 98-03 XJR. Steel body, issues with motors (cylinder liners and timing tensioners). The car was redesigned in 04.

Thanks for the help guys. Sounds like the XJ6 would work for me. The 2004+ if I can go the extra bucks.
Great info. Appreciate it.
