Jaguar XJ 300 executive 3.2 (P Reg)
hi there can anybody help me!
my jaguar xj 300 executive 1996 3.2 will not lock on fob, and if i leave it overnight it will not start at all. I can get it started if i disconnect the battery and leave it for 30 minutes and reconnect. is this a fault on the immobiliser or is it fuse related.????
many thanks Dave....

Dave,
You appear new, so welcome to the real world of motoring.
The "P" rego ID means nothing to anyone outside the UK, we mostly use the actual "build date" from the vehicle ID plate, so like all the others I am as much in the dark. HOWEVER, you have said '96 X300, so the mud is clearer a tad.
I reckon the issue is with the alarm/security module, usually located up behind the fuel filler flap inside the boot, and FUN to get at, NOT. I do not believe it is fuse related, coz if a fuse is blown, disconnecting the battery and re-connecting same will NOT fix a blown fuse. That procedure only "resets" a module/ECU. BUT, if the fault that caused the initial hissy is still present the condition you have now will return quickly.
I have read of some having problems with that security module, but I do not know the final outcome.

Welcome to the forum Dave,
+1 to Greg's analysis that it's not a fuse but module related.
You should add some further details to help the combined knowledge and brainpower of X300 owning members come up with a solution for you:
1. whether you have the two fobs / black headed master keys and if they behave the same
2. has this always been the same since you got the vehicle or started happening recently
3. are you able to lock it with the key
When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST section and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice on posting to the forum.
