Jaguar XJ6 Sport 4.0 X300!
Im trying to find out what the average mpg people get on a Jaguar XJ6 Sport 4.0 X300!. My on board computer says anything from 15 imp mpg to 17.2 imp mpg. Can anyone please let me know what your on board computer says your average mpg is ?. I get about 240 miles to a tank which seems really bad. I have a BMW 750 il which is 5.4 litre v12 and it does a lot better than this. Also when i put fuel in the car I always get loads of air bubbles does this suggest it may have a fuel leak ?
Thanks Mat

Matt, my 3.2 averages 22-23mpg which is a mix of around-town but 75% open road, travelling about 60-70mph, giving it stick when I can.
If I sit sedately on 55mph, I can get 25-27 mpg over a 15 miles drive (work to home).
This is with Pod filter and Andy Stoddart's cranksensor bracket, which I would recommend.
In my manual XJR, on the same work trip I average 18mpg, but if I toddle at the same 55 mph, I get about 23-25mpg. However my size 12 foot likes to press down, and there is no point owning an XJR then trying to get hybrid economy figures.
I try not to run my tank below 1/4 full, so it usually takes about 50 litres, but once I squeezed 68 litres into the 3.2.
(imperial mpg, not US mpg.)

Hi Matt,
My car is a XJ SPORT 3.2 year 1995, manual gear box.
I drive it every day, 82Km, home-work-home.
Andy bracket, KN air filter (in the box, not the external one), spark plugs following manufacturer recommendation, coils from ford thunderbird, or something like that.
Before the above the consumption was 17.3lt/100Km, after the above became 10.4 lt/100Km. Fixed.
Real fuel, not LPG stuff.
The trip computer is very accurate, shows me an average of 80Km/hr
I drive this daily procedure, with lower speed ~40Km/hr and higher ~170Km/hr (no more road...)
AL NZ says: "there is no point owning an Jaguar then trying to get hybrid economy figures.", absolutely !!
A/C on or off, tires pressure, quality of the fuel, cars load, ambient temperature, traffic, etc, all these and some more affect the mpg (or lt/100Km)
