LED H1 Replacement bulbs - anyone tried them?
Apologies if there is already a thread on this - I searched the Forums but didn’t find anything.
Has anyone tried LED replacement bulbs for their X300 headlights?
I’m tempted to give some a go. They are available in NZ for about $30, compared to $97 for a new pair of quality halogen ‘plus 120%’ bulbs I bought the other day (Narvas, I think)

The H1 is for the fog lights, right? Those look nothing like the standard headlight bulbs.
That LED is comical! I can't believe it is considered a direct replacement for ANY H1 bulb. It's huge!!
As far as LED lighting is concerned, I pretty much DESPISE all LED exterior vehicle lighting. One reason is the light spread. You can see by the size of that ridiculous H1 LED bulb that the light "source" is a large volume. Hence the reflector will not be able to direct the beam properly, which causes blinding light over a wide field. Even on newer vehicles with factory LED headlights, this is a big problem.
I also don't like the cool blue color temperature of standard LEDs. It looks cheap to me. This usual front end accent lighting on newer cars these days is marketed as "modern" and possibly "high tech" style, and therefore a virtual necessity on all new cars. I hate it.
