Default Missing Hose / What is it?

Hi All,

Had my bonnet/hood up last night and noticed that a pipe is missing to an item in the engine bay that I do not recognise.

Can anyone identify this item and what it does?
To what should the missing pipe be connected?
What impact might this missing have on the car?

Many thanks in advance for any help!

Nick

Electrolux AIR PUMP.

I think it is the the hose to the pump inlet that is missing. (needs to go to the air cleaner housing)

Might be the outlet to the air check valve to the exhaust for the cataverter warmup. I see you have a different manifold so it is likely deleted.

XJR is on the right and the N/A cars have it above the ALT. on the left.

I don't remember the in/out locations anymore. (been too long since I paid attention)

Mine are all NA LHD units, pump mounted on left side of engine, but the port farthest from the electical connector is the output.

If you don't get a MiL every couple of weeks or so, precipitated by a P0411 code, I'd leave it be...or at most, find a vinyl cap for it. Or if you are subject to meddlesome inspections, again with no associated codes, just attach a hose to it and tuck it back under the exhaust manifold to some dark, hard-to-see crevice somewhere.

See page 92

The secondary smog pump is located on the right side for the supercharged version , left side for the normally aspirated

Hi All,

Many thanks for your help. I think motorman is right, looking at Parker's diagram's the pipe that is connected is aircleaner to air pump and the missing one is the pipe to the check valve which has been deleted on my car due to the custom manifolds. I suppose I have nothing to worry about.

Thanks to all for your kind help.

Cheers,
nickdabs

Is the air filter box attach nipple blocked off , if not this brings in unfiltered air into the intake manifold path before passing through the mass air flow sensor .

Hi Parker,

I have just looked and there is yellow cap blocking off a circular hole where you might attach a hose to the air box, is that it?

if so I think it’s all good

thanks
