Can someone please tel me where this switch is on a 1997 XJR..

It's mounted on the right side of the gearshift assembly. It's actually a multifunction affair....I think it's called a "linear switch" on Jag parlance.

You're having a starting problem, I presume?

I have to jiggle the gearshoft quite ften to start the car. If the "P" is glowing red, the starter will work. If not, I have to jiggle the lever a bit to get the magic red glow.

Fearing that I'll be stranded one day I rigged a remote start button in the engine bay. It bypasses the circuits on the linear switch

There's an adjustment procedure in the manual. I haven't tried it. There's some sort of tool needed...I haven't really researched it too much

Hello and thanks for the info. Is there away you can explain how you rigged a remote start button in the engine bay to bypasses the circuits on the linear switch
