New cat joins the family
I just took possession of a nice 1995 XJ6 Vanden Plas as a stablemate to my 94 XJS. The body work is in very good condition, no rust or dents. There are a number of minor electrical foibles that I'll attend to soon but my first order of business is to change all the fluids, filters, plugs, belts and hoses to get a good baseline.
The car does have some vibration issues. I believe one might be the fact that it has 4 different tires in 4 different states of wear. I have ordered a set of Bridgestone Turanza that will be fitted tomorrow with an alignment done as well. Also while poking around under the car, I noticed that the front U-joint that connects the propshaft to the transmission was very loose, all 4 nuts were almost off the bolts!! I tightened these up (bit fiddly) and it made a big difference. I also noticed that there were two sizable cracks in the jurid coupling so I have ordered a replacement. While I'm at it, I think I'll replace the central bearing and the u-joints too .
Anything else I should be on the lookout for?
A very regal cat!!

Sounds like you're on top of everything !
On that center bearing....make darn sure to carefully mark the exact location of the brackets before taking the driveshaft out. You probably know that but I had to say something just in case.
Your list covers almost everything but I always repack the wheel bearings on any recent purchase. It's an oft-neglected service.
Cheers
