New Member, Intermittent No-Start
Hi,
I have just bought my first jaguar as a renovation project. It is a 1996 XJ Sport 3.2 straight six and I am in love with it already. I am only the second owner from new and it has done just under 76k miles.
I need some advice about a problem the car has which was like it when bought.
On and off (seems theres no set pattern of circumstances) the car will not start, ignition switches on but car will not turn over on the key. If I lock the car unlock it switch ignition on and off and move the gear selector from park to drive back to park this cures situation. Seems to happen mainly when car has been locked and you unlock to drive off for first time. I have however had it happen a couple of times whilst actually driving where it dies which is a bit hair raising.
Also any one got any good suggestions as to where to get an owners manual etc as I dont have one.
Been looking round the site and it seems great, there appears to be a wealth of learned members especially to me (being not very mechanically minded my self.
Look forward to any responses and interacting with the rest of you.
cheers for now,
Pikey

Hi Pikey,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums!
I have moved your post from the forum for the XJ40 to the forum for the X300, which is the Jaguar factory code for your 1996 car. Here you will find knowledgeable owners of similar cars.
I have also revised the title of your thread to better reflect your issue, and I have added some line returns to your post to make it a little easier to read - something the adminstrator has asked us to encourage.
And since we're a friendly group, please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum and post an introduction so we can give you a proper welcome and learn something about you and your Jaguar.
Cheers,
Don
