No speedo
I had an in depth investigation into the P0500 code on my 1995 Jaguar X300. The verdict after 4.5 hours was that there was no output from the ABS ecu LS27-24 to the Instrument pack input, FC9-15. Indicating a faulty ABS/TCCM. Hopefully a new abs ecu will solve the problem. How easy is it to replace the ecu, without disconnecting the brake lines?? Thanks Bill W.

Wow, I didn't think they knew any way to fail except to set the C1095!
Easy enough, the pump/ecu module is mounted to its fixing bracket by three iso-mounts: the bracket has sort of "forks" and the studs fit down into those with nuts that squeeze a rubber or polymer piece to clamp the module to the bracket. Loosen all three fasteners and then gently roll the pump/ecu module up, forward and inboard, brake lines still firmly attached. Just be careful not to kink any of the lines. The ecu is fastened to the pump with two torx fasteners, as I recall. They are on the very bottom. You'll have to roll it far enough up, forward, and inboard to access them with a tool. Oh, I forgot, you'll need to unplug the pump connector, and there is a multi-pin connector that you'll have to unbolt from the ecu.
You can let the pump "dangle" from the brake lines while you sort out the ecu's.
I know..the above sounds crude and nasty....but once refitted, and a beverage or two consumed, you'll never be able to tell it's been messed with!

Hi, Just had the ABS pump and control unit replaced and all is well with the speedo and road speed related functions. Just got that sorted and the output pipe of one of the intermediate silencers decided it no longer wanted to be attached to the silencer box. I am trying to source a pair of those now, not a very fruitful task after 2 days searching. Funs don't stretch to Stainless Steel exhaust system.
