Default ECU off the car

Now I have a few questions regard of ECU; As I have posted in other thread, after my 2004 X-Type 3.0L got over heat, it won't start any more; Blew head gaskets, removed engine head found cylinders full of water, I replaced new head gaskets, new fuel injections, new spark plugs and new ignition coils, put every thing back together, engine cranked but won't start, OBD scan gave whole bunch of codes, Thermo has said it's the ECU fault, now I have these question:
1-Should I buy an used ECU on ebay?
2-Can the Jag. dealer reprogram the ECU?
3-Can they reprogram ECU without the car? The dealer is 1/2 hr drive from my place and the car won't start.
4-Thermo said I should find one that have the build date close to the one I had; How to find the build date on the ECU?

The folks at Automotive Scientific Inc can test it and repair it if needed. Their website is Automotive Scientific Inc. | Quality Rebuilt Automotive Electronics | Rogersville, TN

I call the Jag. dealer near my place and they said: they can't repair the ECU, They can't reprogram another one to work with my car, They have to order a brand new ECU from the factory cost about $!500+ who know what!?
But thanks Avern1 gave me website one, that one give me a price to repair for $349, so it's much better, Just in case my ECU was too bad be on the repair, then I have to by a used one they can reprogram it to work with my car. Hope this will let me drive my JAG again.

Thang if it works out that you need a new ECU text or call DrDome a forum member. He parts out x-types and can probably fix you up. His number is 484-903-4813 let him know Vern recommended.
Good luck with your repair.
