Water pump replacement

As I read reviews and comments of XK8 owners I am noticing that the plastic water pump seems to be a standard problem. As I plan on getting an XK8 eventually is there a metallic replacement pump? I am taking my time to find the right Jag but where I live BMW and etc are all over the place. Very few Jags and XK models in particular.

The older model water pumps have plastic vanes that become brittle and break off if the engine overheats. The new pumps also have plastic vanes but they are improved and don't break if there is some overheating.

If you buy a '00 or older it "probably" has the original style pump, check maintenance records if you can to determine positively.

The overheating is caused by thermostates going bad, so if you decide to change pumps change the thermostat as well.

Thanks for the help, and actually I am enjoying the search. I have always loved British sports cars including Austin Heally, Lotus, MD, and Triumph. Jaguar always seemed a little out of touch but no it looks more realistic. I would choose to have British Racing Green or Jaguar Racing Green just for tradition, but it is the search and research that occupies my time now.
