My Goals
Here are my goals, tell me if ithey can be achieved.
Buy a 1997 up XK8 for around 20,000 (hardtop).
Mod 1: Intake - so easy, so fun
Mod 2: Have custom headers and full exhaust built (no cats). [I have a hookup on emmissions testing]
Mod 3: Have custom cams built so that the car can deliver power better.
Somewhere in the mix I will have the auto tranie worked on with a stall kit or something along those lines.
My goal is about 350 at the rear wheels, I think thats possible.
How often do you hear a Jag that rumbles like a vette. Thats what I want. I know its not the fastest car in the world, and its not the best performer, but I want the rumble. Sure I could get an XKR for that matter, but then where is the originality of that.
So what do you think?

Actually I did some reading and I think that the cams will be the hardest part. Most american shops (which is who I will take it to) deal with single or rarley dual cams. The Jag has to have 4, which is going to be killer. Sure they can just take them out and shave them a bit here and there, but still damn.
The headers will have to be custom. It wont be fun, but if I can get a set of used stock ones (Is it a manafold, does anyone know?), my shop can start using that as a backbone to make the headers.
The exhaust will be fully custom. I want 3.5 or 4in piping all the way back with the least amount of bends possible. I thought about getting borla or rehmus, but for the same price I can get custom work done, which will be way more unique. Does anyone have a sound clip of any exhaust on an xk8?

Try the German company called Arden - they have amazing stuff. If you get a chance, pick up the newest issue of modified L&E and read on their XKA - - - its an XKR with a 4.5 liter stroker kit and some other sweet work. 532hp at the wheels and 525 torque. Sound fun?
there's a soundclip from Arden's website - just go to jaguar, then accessories or parts, then click on exhaust and there's a clip of an XKR with their exhaust.
