Default oil leak oh no

so i am leaking oil from some were.
i suspect the valve cover gasket is bad.
i already ordered one should be here next week.

i just wanted to know if there are any other common gaskets that could be leaking. like the oil pan gasket ect. i have not inspected it fully yet but i know the valve cover is bad. last month or maybe 2 months ago

the oil leaked into cylinders 3,4,5 and 6 and shorted my ignition coils
i replaced them with $28 each cheap after market until i can afford oem

should i get the ignition coil gaskets? my new ones did not come with them.

Check that the gasket you've ordered comes with the 6 individual gaskets for the spark plug wells. There's a paper gasket for the coil, but also a rubber one under the valve cover; sounds like they're what you've had issues with & they don't always come with the main gasket.

Valve cover leaks are very common. You will want to make sure that the cover has not warped. Then make sure you clean out any previous gasket material, particularly in the groove that the new gasket will sit in.

Also make sure to use a good bit of RTV around the half moon seals at the back, that is a common leak spot. As mentioned above the plug seals should be replaced too and check the valve cover plug wells for any holes caused by corrosion.

Other top spots for oil leaks are the oil pressure switch and the oil cooler bypass o-rings (actually will be replacing mine this weekend )

The gaskets are best described as dust excluders. Not absolutely essential, no, but I'd rather have 'em than not have 'em.

Some of the replacement coils come with new gaskets and some don't. OEM gaskets from Jaguar are stupid expensive....like $6.00-7.00 each last time I checked.

I've often thought (but never actually researched) that the coil gaskets are suspiciously similar in size and shape to ordinary thermostat gaskets that you might buy for 75-cents each at the local parts store. Probably wouldn't be hard to find some that would do the trick with little or no modification

Cheers

I had to buy 6 last week ... paid $3.44 USD each for $20.64 total.

i'm fortunate to have Motorcars LTD just 10 minutes away. They are a very reputable repair shop (Jag, Land Rover) and sell new and used parts (well stocked Jag boneyard).

They do have a website for parts ... www.motorcarsltd.com
.
