Default overhead console take apart for new fabric question

I've just finished a comprehensive servicing of my sunroof, so now I'm getting ready to install my recovered headliner.

I took the overhead console apart so I can use the fabric off cut from the sunroof hole in the headliner to recover it, but I can't release the 'wood' from the innards as seen in this picture. Has anyone got any advice on how to do this?

I've pulled back four metal tabs, the sticking point is the widest area on the left in the photo. Can't find any more screws, the area where the sunglasses holder was has released but something is holding the main black plastic area in tight....

G'day Oliver,

I would go get a sacrificial one from a wrecker and be a bit more persuasive in pulling it apart before you cause your panel any grief.

I gather you car has a wood insert in the panel and also a garage opener, mine has neither and I also didn't need to replace that piece of fabric.

Good luck, cheers,
Jeff.

Good idea! Unfortunately the 96 x300 in our local breakers yard has mysteriously had it's roof crushed in, I was thinking I might see if I can wriggle in and grab the console to pull apart. There aren't any others nearby at the moment

it is just glued on and needs pulling off.
i swapped mine from plastic to wood and all it is those 4 clips and some strong adhesive.
just slowly lever or push off.

A heat gun (aimed at the inner plastic side) will help with the adhesive.
