I am only interested in reconstructing the front left corner I crunched yesterday in a real boneheaded move. (I'm all for destroying the left wing.....but not on my precious Jaaag....I meant that OTHER left wing!!!)
Anyway, managed to remove the left wing (another pleasant thought, but I digress) and headlamp assy this evening, and I believe the headlamp assy is repairable: Ripped the (outboard) adjuster assy out of the housing and broke its ball joint. Broke the socket-pocket for another outboard lamp ball joint but have more than half the circle still there and the socket and broken pc. rode home on the undertray from FTW. It is still a good tight fit, but hopefully I can find that rarest of commodities this side of unobtainium....adhesive that bonds whatever flavor plastic that is...and do a serviceable repair. Adjuster hole is a bit torn up but it also fits back in quite snugly. Headlamp lenses survived unscathed and all bulbs still work except the "parking" lamp; not sure if that is dipped-beam or what it is called, "Pilot?" but the bulb in the outboard lamp that comes on when switch is moved to first detent.
Ah well...the yard in SE Dallas that has a black fender from a 96 also claims to have the headlamp assy, LH...though I think all I really need is a single pc from the adjustment kit, JLM12118. Dare I even ask if those are available and at what price?
Bob,
I'll call you tomorrow...er...wow...lookit the time! today, I mean..but at a more gentlemenly hour......
