Default Parts Exchange

I know there is a marketplace for parts and such, but I recommend creating a sticky for free/minimal-cost parts for our local x300 users. Over the years that I have been on this site, I have sent many parts to fellow members for little to no cost except shipping. I know that I have also received a few parts, including the use of a "Jaguar" diagnostic computer to reset my Throttle position sensor.

There is also a MARKETPLACE on the forum for ALL advertising - Wanted to Buy, For Sale and Wanted to Trade listings:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/marketplace-104/

We will not be creating stickies in Model or Region forums and will continue to remove any adverts posted there.

There are two reasons for this:
1. all advertising is in one place and not randomly spread across forums
2. members can CLOSE their listings when no longer required

Posts in Model and Region forums stay there FOREVER. Long after vehicles and items were bought or sold, questions were still being asked and members contacted about them. This is why the change was made.

Although I agree with your reasoning, I am just trying to offer my fellow x300 participants parts that I am willing to give away or parts that I can pull from a local U-Pull-IT if they really need them. If I were to offer someone a part because they can't find it, is that against the policy in this forum? Or would I need to PM them to offer the part for free? Just trying to understand. I personally think that I would have a better chance of getting a part from eBay than from the marketplace because, as you said, those parts could be gone, and they just have not closed their marketplace offering. I am sure that in our forum, many people have parts to give for free but don't want or need to put them on the marketplace. As I said, I probably gave our forum no less than ten parts for free through PM.

i know you sent me a fuse box label previously that no one would have ever listed anywhere.
the sort of part that one must ask specifically for.

i did also get parts previously off another member Nobel Masri before and it was just via something that cam up in conversation.

i was also supposed to be getting parts from parker like a beautiful new centre armrest however not sure what is going there as it has been sometime since i have been able to speak to him bout it.

and i know i for one need little parts that no one would ever list on ebay or marketplace, and i feel that the majority of users never check the marketplace WTB so if i was to post and say i wanted to buy "the drivers side (RHD) footwell air vents piece" (as i realised that there is supposed to be one and i don't have it.) that no one would actually see and respond to it.
so a thread could be useful.

there are always 100 different ways to do things, problem is when things are tucked away to keep things tidy, noone uses them, but if you create too many places then it just becomes too hard to check and see what may or may not be somewhere.
