Default Pictures needed of a manual pedal box

Hello jag people

I’m embarking on a manual conversion for my x300 and a 5 speed box is no good without the 3 pedals set up.

I already had a suspicion that the pedal box casting could accept a clutch MC and a clutch pedal ( with modifications ) and after viewing Andrew from jaguar specialities topic his conversion looks very straight forward.

Are any users out there able to post pictures of a clutch and brake pedal from an x300 ? any measurements would also be helpful .

My workplace has all the relevant CNC tooling so no matter there . I am quite happy to provide CAD models of the replacement pedals once I have drawn them up.

a good picture and measurements of the clutch pivot would be really helpfull.

I’m in NewZealand so obtaining the Oem parts is impossible . The last pedal unit on eBay UK was £300 which works out to around $591 nzd before shipping and import duty .

I would like to source a getrag 290 but the cost of getting one to NewZealand is prohibitive, a brand new Toyota R154 looks the best option and is available new and commonly converted to anything with pistons and valves .

a 290 would bolt up sure , but I’d still need to fabricate the crossmember, machine a flywheel and have a prop shaft built - so the effort involved is really quite similar .

Any thoughts or information would be appreciated.

Regards James

I wish you well with your conversion. I am also in the midst of such a conversion. You are correct, the pedal housing is the same casting for the manual as is for the automatic one. You may have to drill/punch out some space for the master cylinder

In fact, the housing is the same as the XJ40/XJ-S generation

(sorry, that's the best photo I have. I have already put in the pedal box in the car. I had to modify the pedals to fit in mine. I had a RHD box but had to bend/replace the pedals to make it work for LHD)

The stock brake pedal casting can be modified to accept a brake pedal as a clutch pedal if you have access to welding Aluminum.
Go on UTube to Robert Knodt’s Camp Choas. He has a how to with pictures.

V12’s after the 3/4 of 1977 Uses the Aluminum Turbo 400 instead of the cast iron Borg Warner transmission. Can use a Chevy bell housing with an easy to fabricate adaptor. Both the Jaguar and Chevy use the same alignment pins in the same location.

This is what the adaptor looks like. It’s an easy Saturday morning job to fabricate. Just use transfer punches. Thick ness determined by which transmission is used.
