Poor starting x300 3.2 1995
Hi, as the heading suggests my recently bought 3.2 x300 has one really irritating problem.
On starting it takes 3 or more seconds of cranking before it fires up. Thankfully it has so far always started, but having very little knowledge of these I was if there was a common fault.
Occasionaly it will fire, and then cut out, but this only happens when it's hot, which I have heard can be due to vapour lock !.
Any help or suggestions of places to start would be a great help. Many thanks

Long starting is nearly always the camshaft sensor faulty. This tells the ecu when the cylinders are on compression stroke. Without it the engine has to spin several times before the crankshaft sensor works it out, hence the delay in firing. Not sure on hot starting issue.
Your welcome. It is the sensor mounted were you would expected to find the distributor , part number JLM21762.
A google search seems to imply that new ones (repair kit) are quite expensive, might be better to try and find a second hand one!
