Talking Powerseat, gear

I am going to change the gear and potentiometer in my driving seat, because it's not working properly.
It's the back and forward movement.
In this case I have no idea of how I can get the gear and potmeter out of the bracket, because it's always something in the way of taking it out.
The bracket who is mounted on the frame, with the brasspin installed, is bolted with two rivets who can't be loosened.
On the gearbox it's a bracket who make it's impossible to get the brasspin out together with the gearbox, and the long screw on the bracket on the frame is stopping in the bracket at the gearbox.
I will be very happy if someone have any good ideas of how this thing can be removed.

Have you tried driving the motor back and forth and with a meter see the position sensor change ?

The motors are 12 volts reference the wiring guide wire breakout sheet

The motor can be driver from an external power source like a car battery or battery charger ( the motor has internal resistance so won't blow out motor )

You need to drill out the rivets. Just as manual said.

Yep, just did this same job a few months back. If you’re careful, you can get away with only drilling the 2 rivets on the one side and pull it apart. 5/16” steel rivets worked perfectly.

No, I haven't done that. The seat returns to backposition when I turn the key off, but will not work properly when I program it. It is living it's own life.
It do not work on the programming properly. It's a new control unit, and I got new motor and potentiometer, so I think I will change it.
I have driven the seat all backwards now, before I take it apart, and think I will do the same in my car befor I put the new in.
Hopefully it will work then.
I think I will measure the potmeter, and see if it works OK. Maybe it just need some adjusting?

Actual problem is not the potentiometer itself but the plastic coupler in it.

BlackSpeed66. Thanks. What kind of rivets can be used after the old old ones have been drilled out?
Will (who maybe is the right name): "pop rivets" be strong enough?

Notice section C and D as ' clocking " may need to be followed on assembly

" It is living it's own life. "

Points to not being motor but the position sensor and how it relates to the control unit which you replaced

" when I turn the key off "

Is triggered by the key removal linier switch ( pin 4 to pin 5 ) in the key barrel which commands the SLCM and what this does specifically....................from the SLCM back to the seat control unit ( ? )

Is the other seat acting the same way on key removal ? this would determain which seat " control " variables involved

What I found on my master driver door controller was a loose connector pin lock bar , mine was window related

But this may or may not seem to point you in an unrelated direction

Did you notice a seat installed seat controller as this determines which of I think 3 seat types the X300 model has and the XJR specific

There are aluminum and steel pop rivets
