Default Project XJ6 to XJR

Things havent started fully as of yet and doubtful it will be this weekend as i had hoped.. I did get a few pics snapped of the XJR and will do the same tomorrow for pics of the XJ6. I am starting to see minor changes in several areas.. little things that will make the project quite the undertaking.. but not scaring me a bit. I have noticed the wiring in the trunk is different on the XJ6 from the XJR guessing I will have to swap everything out from one car into the new one including all wiring harnesses.. this was something i was hoping not to have to take on.. but also with the harmon Kardon sound system in the XJR.. I wouldnt want to leave that option out.. so wiring is a go...

The closer I get the more I realize this haha. guess I am a glutton for punishment and also have big expectations of myself lol!
I just love the rims on the XJR...gives the car sucha nice stance and such an aggressive look from behind..

Do you plan on using the interior in the XJR?

Yes I am taking every stitch of the XJR and transplanting it into mine...I may leave the rear seat out of the equation, depending if it is part of the back landing by the window or not.. I want to use the harmon kardon system and the subwoofer is in that one...but the rear seat in my XJ6 is as mint condition as the XJR and same colour and pretty much identical...the front seats are different tho.. the xjr has stippled leather in the middle whereas my xj6 is plain but the driver seat is starting to show wear and the xjr is showroom condition once the glas is vaccuumed off..lol
I assume you are looking for interior parts.. anything in particular you would like? i may sacrifice some details to offset my costs or maybe even do a trade for anything I may need...

I have a 96 with 47K and the same interior. The wood is all cracked, front seat shows wear and the cup holder bearly stays closed. I was just wondering if you wanted to sell anything. For the age of mine the interior is in pretty good shape.

what colour is the wood.. i have 2 sets of wood that is in relatively perfect condition except the surround to the dash vents in the middle.. i broke one last night.. I was planning to use the darker of the 2 on my car which is the one from the almond and black interior of the xjr

If you like the looks of the older 17" r wheels, you might want to consider even newer ones. I have 01 xkr 18"wheels on mine with 285/40 and 255/40/18's fit great and fill the wheel wells perfectly

I do like the look of those as well.. but the ones on the 96 just seem to have a specific "jag" appeal to them.. nobody puts full wheels anymore so the spokes and 5star etc are so common.. the full wheel look is now more rare and i like that idea..

The wood in my car is DARK almost black. The only bad pieces on mine are the driver's door and shifter surround.

Mine is almost black too, I have considered switching it to the lighter wood. I think it would match the tan interior better.

I've never cared for the dark "XJR" wood, either.

I have heard but not confirmed that lighter wood was used in the '97 XJRs. Can anyone comment on that?

Cheers

up to you guys.. I have said it many times so far.. I would rather see the parts i have left over go to a good home, and in turn hopefully karma will be kind to me..
I went over the wood in the car in a very detailed skeptical way to find blemishes and the both fromnt doors have small hairline cracks in the clear on them near the iddle but not bad by any means.. but the rest is in great shape...the oval piece that goes over the centre vents on the dash in the middle is missing the backing but ifyou are gentle and use a blow drier you can take your backing off yours when the glue hits melting and swap it over while still hot...i had to do that for mine
