ah rewired it using 3.2v blue leds, did the center console blue , lighter red, and need to figure out how to dissasemble the instrument cluster to change those aswell. feel free to link me to a guide on dissasembling it. did this cause my clock and radio lcd where not lighting and some buttons where not lighting as well. but now need to do the entire car all greens for blue.

I like the colour.

You can buy the coloured led's already in the holders at the correct voltage, I bought some from Ebay in green

i had read a post from someone who had bought those you mentioned. but i had a bunch of left over red, blue, yellow leds i just sanded them flat and on the sides to diffuse the light, used the stock bulb holders by removing the stock bulbs and placing the leds instead. didnt have to use resistors i simply connected them in series 4 at a time. the radio was a pain to do very little clearance under the control PCB and couldnt figure out where to take the power from the 3 legs that powered the lights coming from the main PCB plug didnt work they just barely lighted. to drill the contacts for every light so that i could solder the leds in place and then wire them in series without having them short with the stock circuit. now the cluster worries me. dont know how to remove it and i hope it doesnt have a ton of lights cause ive gotten short on blue leds.

argh i ran out of leds and bought some locally that aparently where the same specs. but when i fitted them into the instrument cluster it lights up purple-ish.

EDIT: had to do it all over again swapped some leds and its much better now. but im thinking of removing it again and this time drilling a few holes on the back to insert a white led where the tach red line is and a blue led on the oposite of the tach. need to drill the holes because im going to use thin foil on the bottom center whole where the needles are for all the needles so they light up red. right now the problem is the needle light is shared with backlight. here are some pics of it as it looks just now. it looks better in real life not with that odd glow.

just finished with the cluster lighting, here is some pics.
1. thinfoiled the needle clear plastic

2. drilled extra holes to place leds, the 4 corner holes will use red leds for the small indicators needles and the 2 top wholes on the center also use red for the big needles. the holes drilles are all for blue leds.

3. membrane replaced, 2 wires coming from below soder to the membrane for blue leds. all the red leds soder to the membrane.

4. this is how it finished.

the blue-ish wont exactly match the center console blue because i had to use a few different leds that give a bit of purple glow :/ . i tryd contacting the store i bought the first bunch of leds from but they no longer carry blue leds.

Looks really good. You obviously have a lot of patience to sort it all out

Most of the instrument bulbs throughout the X300 are "neo wedge" type, but anyone know what type the "idiot" and "status" lights are in the speedo nacelle along the sides/bottom that light things like the odometer and check engine, etc lights? They appear to be "B8.xD", such as B8.4D, B8.5D or B8.7D? Can anyone confirm which size/type?

.
