radio problems
hello,
i have a 1997 jaguar xj6. the radio will play sometimes but it also displays tel-mute and locks up with no sound but crackling. it is a random thing. i programed it to telephone off which got rid of the tel-mute on the display but it still goes from radio sound to crackling. any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

there is a free radio exchange program contact your jaguar dealer to check if it still applies in your area, had mine change late last year, they will supply you with a remanufactured one but looks exactly like brand new cause the face and all push buttons are changed to new ones and necessary upgrades are applied to the unit send to you if ever they accept your unit for the voluntary exchange program.

Free exchange on a 12 y/o radio ? Wow. Sounds almost too good to be true. Is yours a newer car ?

1996 Jaguar VDP radio exchanged program last year (2008) April, GO ASK YOUR DEALER FOR IT, MAKE SURE YOU TALK TO THE HEAD OF THE WARRANTY DEPARTMENT, this program was not publicly announced nor do the dealerships take much effort to inform their clients.
And for those who doubt about the authenticity of this exchange program its all up to you. For those who are seriously jag lovers PM me and I'll attached forward the documents about the issue including the exchange program certificate so you may use it to prove to your dealership that such program and many more free programs does exist.
