Default Real Tool Kit's for a X300?

I read somewhere recently that only the British sold cars we given a real tool kit with wrenches / sockets ect.? And a umbrella rack in the boot?

Is this correct? How do you search on the forum to find parts you want for your car? I have a 1997 XJ6 V.P left hand drive, the American jag...
thanks for any help....

Not sure if it was just the Brit market cars that got the toolkit. I think it's more likely that most markets got 'em and the USA didn't.

I've seen 'em pop up on Ebay/UK from time to time. Neat little kit; fits in the covered compartment on the RH fenderwell

Cheers

Seems to be different for each market. In Australia the Sovereign came with the tool kit as standard, stowed in the compartment Doug mentioned. The Sport model didn't. I wonder why they bothered to fit the compartment and then leave it empty on some models! Having said that, the compartment is handy for holding a tool roll I've made up, but it would be nice to have an original kit.

No kit in my 95 VDP

I've actually been thinking about making an insert from high density heat resistant foam. I think it would be useful to have on the road instead of a toolbox sliding around the boot!

The X300 tool kit was always an option although many dealers used to include one as a gift.

They are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Here's a picture of what you are missing:

This one is listed on ebay UK for £140 ($233) and it's not in good condition.

An umbrella is secured with two straps to the luggage compartment lid. Here is one in my XK8 Coupe but I transferred these straps from my X300 to X308 and an earlier XK8 before they were fitted into this one.

Unfortunately there is no place to fit them in my current XK. They might have improved the car but the weather certainly hasn't improved!

Not to sound daft but what's the point of having an umbrella in the boot if I have to go out in the rain to get it?

Thanks for the pic Graham. I for one won't bother looking now, especially at that price! My own tool roll has much more in it, the compartment in my Sport did come with with spare fuses, I have a tyre gauge in the glove box and can happily get by without the umbrella. DIY guys!

I get a kick out of the light bulbs. What Jaguar *should* have done is given us a purpose-built cubby for spare coils and crankshaft sensors...and appropriate tools for replacing same

Cheers

My Sovereign came with the toolkit, and my donor Sovereign also has one, both complete. I didn't realise that they were scarce, but either way, I have one up for grabs if anyone is really interested in same. Don't know what postage would be from Ireland, but let me know if you're interested. Anyone got any idea of cost, as opposed to the ebay price? I would consider any reasonable offer from any board member.

Wow! Another Irish Sovereign owner? That makes two of us! Whereabouts are you based? I'm in Kenmare myself.
As for the umbrella holder, I never heard of it before, although you'd think it might be standard in all cars for the Irish market, with maybe the option of an inflatable boat!

Im up in the Midlands so the option of an inflatable boat doesn't come into play too often fortunately! I reckon the extortionate road tax is making us a rare breed in this wondrous country alright!

True, but you have vintage tax to look forward to. I'm afraid my car might well out live me!
I'm hoping to get up to Midway on March 9th to one of the "run of the mill" meets organised on "Boards.ie" just in case you are at a loose end?

I'll take some pics tomorrow (Monday) and post them. As to cost, I have no idea, but I'll enquire about postage costs to start with, ok?

I thought the tool box was almost impossible to find these days but just got lucky on Ebay here in Australia. My 95 XJ6 must of either not came with one or was removed by a previous owner. I picked it up for $150 aud.

I didn't think the X300 used the glass fuses, Can anyone comment and tell me if they have been added unnecessarily
