Really odd beeping noise on startup
Hey everyone
I have a 95 vdp that I use as a daily driver.
For the past few days, upon starting the car 5 loud beeping sounds come from what seems to be beneath the glovebox. It will beep 5 times, stop for a second and then beep again. This loop happens 4-5 times. The car runs fine and no lights are on. Is this some anti theft signal for the radio? Please note that my radio screen and my clock display are both inoperable so I can't tell if there are any messages popping up there.
This noise is not to be confused with the beeping noise that occasionally comes from the radio. This noise I'm asking about is coming from the passenger side compartment.
Any help out there?!

Not sure where the factory alarm device is on them. I never looked on mine, but it was a "Poverty Pack", not a VDP, or Sovereign. BUT, when the alarm did chirp, is sounded like it was near the RH headlamp area.
Could be the radio getting shitty coz it aint working, and probably calling for a code, which you cannot see, due to display down, but still sounds a stretch to me.
These cars do wierd things when the battery is getting near its "use by date", and that is well documented all over many Forums. These newer cars are "Juice hungry", and the battery is way more important now than it ever was.
Maybe the Prince of Darkness is ringing your doorbell??, but there is precious little Lucas in the X300, but who knows.
More answers will flow when the planets align a tad better.

My bet would be the cassette tape head thinks it needs cleaning. You can turn the reminder off, but it will be tricky with a knacker'd display.
Grant is correct, the alarm system "voice" is located just behind the right front headlight on top of the frame rail.
