Rear Subframe Bushings/Mounts
Hello All,
I have a 95 XJ6 and I was wondering how hard a job it is to replace the rear subframe mounts. Looking under the car, they look fairly easy to get to. Is there anything tricky to it? Will I have to "press" anything in or out with a hydraulic press?
The reason I ask is that some slow to medium bumps (manhole covers etc.) the car seems to move around a bit in the rear. This is exactly what happened to a BMW 528e I used to own and it was the rear subframe bushings to blame on that car.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Falcon 6
I believe it is fairly easy, I assume you are talking about the 'A-frame' bushes which the previous model also has. The A-frame can be detached without taking everything apart, but some means of pressing in the new bushes will be needed, you cannot do it whilst it is on the car. If you cannot do the pressing, once the frame is off a garage with a press can do it, or any machine shop with a press, but a large vice can do the trick.

Yea I recently had mine done and am glad I did. Before, anytime I went over a pothole the back end would feel like it was going into the other lane! It cost about $300 including parts at my local mechanic to have it done, but the whole assembly in mine was all rusted out.
