Question Remote Oil Filter Relocation for X300?

The oil filter on the XJR isn't the easiest to get to from what I can tell, so it got me to thinking and wondering if anyone made a remote oil filter kit for the X300.

I found the following for the X308:

Anyone have any experience with an oil filter relocation for the X300?

I wonder if that same kit would work with the x300's. Not sure of thread pitch and size of the oil filter but if they were the same on both cars then I don't see a reason why the relocation kit wouldn't work.

Any idea where they got that kit?
Nevermind, looked at the last picture and it tells you.

Yeah, the Spectre 5971 kit mentioned doesn't seem to be available anymore.

But the bigger challenge is finding an adapter kit that fits our somewhat unusual filter thread of 1-12.

I can't find specs for the Jaguar EBC9658 filter, but some clues can be gained by cross reference:

The only kits I've found so far that have the oil filter block adapter of 1-12 threading is:

Rapid Hose Systems/Aeroflow

Aeroflow Performance Products: Oil Systems

https://www.aeroflowperformance.com/.../AF64-2042.pdf

https://www.aeroflowperformance.com/...ries/af64-2042

Perma-Cool

SINGLE Oil Filter Mount System

http://www.shop.perma-cool.com/media/300010%20rev4.pdf

I found one of the Perma-Cool kits in an open box sale for about $30+shipping which is significant discount off the normal ~$65-95 they sell for, so I guess I'll check it out to see if/how it works. $40 is not too much money to experiment with.

BTW, the guy on eBay says he has a few more of these open box units if interested.

So feel free to reach out to him if you are: New Perma Cool Oil Filter Relocation Remote Kit 10695 New Open Box | eBay

BTW the Perma-Cool kit above only allows the use of a Fram PH8A (or equivalent) filter at the remote end which only has a 7-9GPM flow rate, but it appears our OEM and equivalent filters are specified for 12-16GPM. So I wouldn't recommend using the kit without upgrading the remote filter end to support a filter with the OEM flow rate.

Fortunately Perma-Cool also sells a remote filter end for about $30 list that appears to support the correct higher GPM filter. One would have to add this to the cost of the kit above, or you could piece together a kit from Perma-Cool with both correct ends that are 1-12 and fit the gasket size.

To piece together a kit it appears you would need the engine oil filter mount end:

Spin-On Adapter (1"-12 THD)

And the remote filter end:

1215 Single Filter Mount, 1/2" NPT Ports up, 1"-12 thread

I did receive the kit above today and based on a quick comparison to my Jaguar filter it appears the engine end adapter may fit. I haven't tested yet though. And of course I'll need the 1215 piece.

So until I have to time to actually fit this to the car, this is still speculation.

I'll update once I have more definitive results.

...still a work in progress.
