Default Seat Belt Receptacle

Greetings from Nashville - Brand "new " 1996 XJ6 owner ,

I have just purchased ( I mean like an hour ago -lol) a 1996 XJ6 and my drivers seat belt "receptacle " is not functioning. Can I buy that kind of part anywhere. I am just looking to make the seat belt function able so open to any universal type latch mechanism that I could bolt into where the current latch assembly is ( right hand side of drivers seat ) - Is the buckle on the end special or could I find something that is not a Jaguar part to get my seat belt working .

Thanks all in advance for help- I am new to board- and did a search but could not solve my problem
Love the look and feel of these cars. !!!!!

Rick

Hi, could you not fix your one? has the spring failed? or the seatbelt warning light staying on? You could just buy a used one, from a car breakers, or ebay etc.

Mark,

Thank you for your reply. It is totally busted and I cant seem to find one for an XJ6 unless I am not looking in the right places.

Who knows which one will show up in the mail. I don't much care for their sales attitude either. They shouldn't be so careless with their listing if they have a "no refunds" policy.

You want part# HNA7012CA. The LEG at the end of the seller's part # is the interior color code (charcoal). Others would be AGD (oatmeal) and SDC (coffee).

For reference, I found another passenger latch, although apparently from the same "no refunds" seller:

The description is better. But you can't use this latch on the driver's side.

Good luck in the search and welcome to JF, glad to have you with us.

Hello Rick!

Good to have u on the team. So question on your seat belt buckle, is the plastic cover completely gone? and if you try to insert your seat belt does it go in but not latch, correct?

I had (I guess) a similar problem - the internal spring broke and the tongue would not stay in the latch.

I had to have an ebay alert set up and running for a while - maybe a couple of months - before I got a hit on an acceptable replacement.

BTW - I got mine for about $25 -- that may be why it took a while to find it.
I see that black one (in the above link) is over $65.

I know this is an old post, but for future reference for anyone stopping by, the barrel shaped springs inside break. It's fixable as the two halves of the plastic around the release button will separate allowing the spring to be replaced:
