Default Servo vacuum pipe

Am I right that there is a pipe that runs from the top of the inlet manifold to the servo and looks like some sort of push fit?

If so should it be loose, mine is?

Thanks

Mike

You got me curious. So I just went out and looked at my 95. And yes the connection at the manifold is loose and appears to be a push fit. At the brake servo it seems a lot firmer. I don't like even slightly loose fittings on the intake side of the engine. I think I might smear a little of the black high tempt silicone around it to cut down on any leakage.

Keep in touch.

Sounds the same as mine then. Perhaps the vacuum in the manifold pulls the fit tight?

You guys just jogged my memory.

That push-fitting broke on my XJR. The pipe wouldn't stay in place. Naturally the car ran terribly. I patched it together with JB Weld with every intention of properly repairing it "in a few days".

That was 3 or 4 years ago

Might as well leave it alone at this point, I reckon.

Cheers
DD

It seems odd that it's a loose fit though. Mercs are the same apparently, a similar push fit and they do come loose.

I was thinking of some JB weld type stuff, I just wouldn't want anything to be sucked in

How exactly does one get this pipe off the manifold fitting? The fitting on my car is broken and I have a new one but can't seem to get the pipe off! I've tried pushing it in to release the clamps and then pulling it out but it will not budge. Someone must have tried fixing it at some point as they slathered it in RTV.

Also once the pipe is off, is there a trick to getting the cartridge out other than getting medieval with it? It seems to be pressed into the manifold.
