Default spark plug gap on 96 x300 British.

Hi, im new here and im driving a much loved Jaguar XJ6/x300 on a 96 plate. Im servicing it at the moment but im not sure of the clearance on the spark plug gap, which I can only measure with Feeler gauges, sorry ablout spelling!!!!

I would be much appreciated on any advice

The consensus seems to be .035 to .038 inches , or about .94 mm. Some say gap smaller to protect the coils, although I think that is BS- make your own choice.

Assuming it's a straight six, the service manual says Champion RC9YCC, except North America non supercharged which are RC12YCC. Both 0.96mm / .038"

JDHT have the service manual on CD available to buy and it's a mine of information.

I run spec at .035 on my both my cars and they run fine.
