Default Speaker Wiring From Head Unit

Hey Lads,

Just installed a new head unit in the Jag as the old one had completely bit the dust. The only speaker that worked was the passenger rear (US car)

Now the fronts work perfectly and the rears both come on but they are distorted. I assume a wiring issue between the speakers and the head unit.

Before I attempt to run new wiring directly from the head unit to these speakers, does anyone know the route of the cable? I may be able to troubleshoot the problem if I know where and if there are any connections between the head unit and each speaker.

Any information on the path of the wiring would greatly speed up my process and since I still need to replace the brake booster as of this morning, I could use the extra information.

Cheers
Bernie

More likely your rear speakers are shot. If original, the fronts won't last much longer, either. Most frequently, it seems the left side front is the first to go, though, before the rears crap out.

Unfortunately, I had to run new wiring to the rear door speakers.
It was definitely something in the circuit to the rear but alas, trying to find it would have required some serious indepth work.

Glad you got it sorted. From reports, much more common for the speakers to fail, I don't recall many posts of wiring deterioration, mostly complaints of the speakers or head unit failures.
