Default Stalling, P0400 code on '95 XJ6

Hello,

For the last couple months, my '95 XJ6 has been stalling at red lights, and in other situations where it is in drive but at low RPMs (700 or so), coasting slowly into a parking spot, for instance. Putting it in park raises the RPMs somewhat (800-900), and it generally will not stall in park, although it idles more roughly, and I'm unsure whether this is due to a bad coil, since I would expect a misfire code for that, and not just the P0400 code. There is not much RPM fluctuation, before the stall, just a little stumbling and then the stall. No trouble starting back up.

I installed a new OEM EGR valve, and that did not help at all. I also cleaned the throttle body recently.

What else should I look at? I notice that there's some carbon inside the intake manifold, where the EGR valve attaches. But I can't see if there's any clogging further in. If that could be a problem, could someone tell me how to get inside and clean out the relevant channels in the intake manifold? Or any other suggestions as to what the problem could be are very welcome.

Thanks,
Stephen

Sounds similar to my issues on my 02 xkr... P0400 goes away after reset and comes back after a few drives. Interested to see what others suggest, maybe I'll get some general hints to fix mine as well

Stephen:
Did you reset the OBD codes after installing the new EGR? And P-400 came back? I assume you cleaned the port where the EGR mounts very well. And i assume you have inspected the pipe from the exhaust to the EGR for leaks or obstructions?. That code indicates a temperature problem in the egr gas flow apparnely. After the mechanical stuff, the wiring needs to be chacked next, I would say. If you don't see anything there, I suppose you need to get it scanned with advanced (deale type) software to ID exactly what is faulty.
