Starter Motor
Hello I was doing some clean-up work under my car on saturday and was looking for the location of the starter motor which I think I found on the drivers side of the engine. The lower bolt to remove it seems easy from under the car but have do you reach the upper one, plus the two connectors. I look from above but could not see an easy way to it. Can anyone tell me what needs to be taken off the car to get access to it. It refuses to engage now and again so I may need to remove it or at least find a way to the two wires so I can clean them up..
Thanks

Well.....I've removed the throttle body, the inlet manifold, the abs pump, the coolant and heater hoses and heater pump, the cylinder head, the centre console, and....I still can't get that bolt out. I think I'll cut through the transmission tunnel/bulkhead rather than drop the transmission/pull the engine block.
Seriously, it's a breaker car so I'll cut through the transmission tunnel.
Legend has it that an array of universal joints, 3/8" drive sockets and extensions from under the car, up the side of the transmission to almost the lop of the transmission will make the bolt submit. I tried that, but it didn't work for me.
I feel for you buddy so I'd advise you make sure it's the starter that is definately the problem.
Wires are easy to access with throttle body off though. That's an easy job.
