Steering rack - MOT failed!

Well never a dull day in my X300 ownership.

Car just failed MOT. Well technically it didn't fail, they just refused to issue it until I resolve the leak which was nice of the guys at Gibraltar MOT centre because I don't have to rebook and pay again, just bring it back when its done.

Sourced part on ebay. which doesn't come with inner or outer tie rods so it seems sensible to put new ones on. Found these cheap from a company called ABS

I've read a decent write up I found on here how to do the job which I have to say looks easy but I have a few questions I hope someone could help me with:

1) The ABS parts appear to be the same part number for both inner and outer on both sides - i.e. both sides identical. For the inner ones it has length of 288mm and "Jaguar code ACC 7298 (-)". Is this correct? I ask because MOOG also sell on the same site and theirs says 295mm length "Jaguar code JLM409" but also cars from 1996 where as mine is 1995. So logic dictates that the ABS part at 288mm ACC 7298 is the correct part? No chassis numbers mentioned
2) The outer tie rod end with ball joint from ABS says length 74mm and Jag codes JLM 1098-JLM9660. Others have the same codes and dimensions but another code JLM 9726. Which is correct? Again no chassis numbers mentioned
3) Presumably as with other cars the inner rods simply screw into the rams on the rack? Is this a normal thread? I guess easy to install with the rack insitu.
4) In terms of releasing the steering column from the rack there is one bolt. Do I need to spread the connection or should it just tap out and back in again? Any tips on this appreciated.

Just for info - 1995 Jaguar RHD XJ6 automatic 3.2. Was once on an a UK "M" plate.

Thanks all

Sam.

Okay so seems nobody knows!!

This is what I have found elsewhere:

1) Took a gamble and ordered the ones I think are correct. In any case the excellent ebay seller who bought the rack from and is a Jag specialist breaker is throwing in a couple of used inner links for free. So I will have the choice of those, my old ones or the new ones if they are correct. To be honest i am not surprised at no replies as every parts list site shows only a refurbed rack code with these inner rods fitted
2) The answer is JLM 1098 is correct
3) They do
4) I'll find out when I do it
