Sticking in Park once in a while
My 1997 XJR will not start from time to time when the car is in Park, it will if I get it into Neutral but sometime it will not move out of park. Will this be linkage or something else going on.

It sounds like a simple electrical fix. On my xj6, park wont disengage unless the footbrake is engaged (as a safety feature) nor will it attempt to start unless it is in Park or Neutral, thanks to a "Start inhibitor switch" which should be located beneath the gear shift gate/cover. A little look around should reveal the problem, perhaps the switch has come loose, or an electrical connection has. Check and clean any connectors you might find under there. Hope this helps.
