Sticky throttle
I saw a few posts on this but not exactly my sistuation
1997 inline 6 4.0 liter Jag VDP.
The throttle hangs open slightly. When I look at the throttle, it's sort of a two piece arrangement, piece 1 connects to the gas peddle and also turns piece2 as the throttle blade is opened.
Peice2 is connected to a valcum of some sort.
I can see that piece 2 on the throttle hangs open when the gas peddle is released and piece 2 can be physically closed by hand. It looks like this piece has a coil spring tensioner on it.
so, questions.
1) Does this sound like a worn out part
2) I've done some quick cleaning to see if that would smooth out the operation but that didn't work - More cleaning you think?
3) Does some other force act on this piece like a valcum or the Idle Air Control.
I'm not really sure what the purpose of the two pieces are, maybe something to do with cruise control.
Anyway, It seems like the spring wrapped around the shaft should be strong enough to close this part up against it's stop. So maybe its just worn out.
what do you guys think?
