Sunroof rattle
Sunroof rattles and makes noise when driving. Especially on a bumpy road.
I have taken out the inner liner and had a look but unsure what to do here.
The bolts are tight.
The movement is in the mechanism.
Is the plastic hinge mechanism worn and need replacment?
Does it need a new seal? Would that make it close tighter and insulate the movement?
is there something i can do to stop the rattle?
or if not stop the rattle atleast dampen the noise?
the sunroof works perfect with the exception of the missing clips for the small back liner.
they are missing so the small back liner will not stay inplace.

maybe if i regrease the hinge mechanisim the will stop the rattle as a layer of grease between parts stops the noise from movement?
what is the correct sort of grease touse here?
a silicone grease?
a moly grease?
something thicker and similar to a wheel bearing grease
i was thinking a white lithium grease but those sprays are too thin and wouldn't provide any insulation.

G'day Spud,
I sprayed my sliding roof mechanism and tracks with motorcycle chain lube and it worked well. It seeps in everywhere and when the solvent evaporates it sticks like **** to a blanket.
Cheers,
Jeff.

G'day Spud,
Here are the part nos for the drain channel supports and also a couple of threads re sunroof bits.
This is the RH part, HNB1774AA and the LH part, HNB1775AA.

I googled the P/Ns a couple of years ago and found the bits I needed.
Cheers,
Jeff.

seen a few different threads and videos, now seen those other ones too.
gotta try and find those parts now.
googling so far has led me to finding nothing. will keep looking and hope something comes up.
found one link for them along with the mechanisim cover pieces i also need.
but jeez at $140 euro thats just a bit steep.
will keep looking...
https://oldtimerparts.de/shop/oldtim...59aahnb1774aa/
but thanks.
one of those threads contained the 3d print file atleast for the drain channel supports.
so i can atleast find someone to print.
used an online service to find someone to print a few things for me before with great results.
https://www.treatstock.co.uk/
very good site that could come in handy for many people
i can get those 2 pieces printed in ABS for $9 plus $10 delivery.
wonder if ABS print is strong enough or would need/want another material
ABS would be my normal go to for car stuff due to strength and heat resistance.
