I have taken off two throttle bodies over the last year and one had no gasket or gasket material and one had gasket material. What is recommended and if it needs gasket material what should I use

 

There should be no gasket between the throttle body and intake manifold.
Just make sure the surfaces are clean and the bolts are tightened properly.

as far as I know, the first gasket is for the 2.5 litre and the second gasket fits the 3.0 litre.

There is no gasket for the AJ16 engine.

If you feel the need, then I would suggests some non-curing fuel resistant material such as Permatex Permashield 85420 which is similar to Hylomar.
