Default Throttle Cable!

Yikes - Just got a call from my mechanic - says the throttle cables are bad and Jag discontinued the parts. 1997 XJR6. Any thoughts out there? Hate to have to make a planter out of it!

Does yours have the traction control actuator just fwd of the ABS module on the right side for left wheel steering . That would be the second throttle cable other then the primary one from the gas pedal .

How has it failed ?

Salvage yard ?

Thank you for your reply! I am a complete neophyte when it comes to this stuff, but from what I understand the car does have two cables. Apparently at least one of the cables has begun to wear (he says it's about to just break in half) and at least one plastic retainer is cracked. His assessment is it's about to completely fail. At this point the pedal is rather hard to press. I'm in upstate NY and he has been looking around here for a used part but no luck so far. thanks again!

I had same problem.
There are two cables - one from pedal to ABS unit, then one from ABS unit to throttle body.
My mechanic had to make up a new cable (ABS to throttle body) as they are discontinued.
Mine was frayed and jamming in its housing, limiting throttle opening to 55% of maximum, according to the OBDII device I bought (Kiwi3).
Once fixed, I get 96% max throttle opening and it is now truly a beast.
So get it sorted!

There is a cable in the salvage yard here looking for a new home . Can't remember if it has the 2nd cable for traction control though .

Any tips out there on the removal of the primary cable from the pedal through the brake booster casting ?

Plan B could be to get an aircraft engineer to duplicate the original...

Then the mechanic tells me I have two cracked headers. Also no longer made. Guess I have a new BRG planter. For God's sake, why do I keep buying these stupid cars...
