Seems to be a bit more traffic here. Just picked up a 1995 XJ12 and I have a question. When I open up the left passenger door I get a ticking sound, it sounds like it is coming from below the drivers seat. The noise stops when I close the door. I opened and closed every other door and the sound is not there. I'm hoping its nothing big and hope it won't drain the battery. Thx in advanced for any feedback.

 

I have the same issue with one of the rear doors. It's the puddle lamp solenoid. Usually, if I wait for a half minute the light will come on and the ticking stops. It sounds very much like a lucas fuel pump.

It may be a poor connection in the circuit or a faulty bulb, but I haven't investigated as it works most of the time.
