Default TILT Motor on steering column... Please help, thanks:)

ok, so I had a post yesterday about the column's tilt motor. I noticed when I swap both plugs connecting to the tilt motor the tilt option only works 1 day. Like for example, when I have it plugged in one way the tilt option goes up, but not down. Then if I swap the plugs the tilt will go down but not up... get it??? Also, I also noticed that there is a little black switch box connected to the tilt motor with a little green stem inside of it, that broke off as well, I am not sure if it has something to do with the tilt switch operating or not.
I have also noticed that if you tighten the lower steering column really hard, you cannot even use the tilt feature. I was thinking about eliminating the tilt feature because I have a loose column, and now with the bolts super tight, I have no play in the column, but also no tilt anymore.. what does everyone think about that? If anyone can help me on these issues I would greatly appriciate it, thanks again

Yes it does, the black box is a potentiometer. So when the potentiometer is broken, the computer will not know where the steering is and can't work correctly. You will have to replace the black box too.

I think every X300 with a power tilt & column has a little play in the steering. There is nothing we can do for it...
