Towing A Jaguar
Hi All,
Just bought a 1997 Jaguar xj6 which is the same body style as my 1995 Vanden Plas for 200 dollars and the body is in great condition! I want to use it as a parts car but need to tow it. My buddy is willing to tow it for but we need a tow bar. Would any kind soul out there know of the right type of tow bar I could use to get this thing home? Thanks!

If you are towing for anything but a few miles, don't do it! I cannot imagine that a commercial tow bar is made to tow a Jaguar since there is no place to hook it up! Rent a U-haul trailer, borrow a trailer, or spring for a tow truck or flatbed.
And... there will be plenty of folks to remind you that you really never want to tow a Jag with wheelson the ground, but that does not matter for a $200. parts car. Safety or liability does matter, though.

I needed to get my XJ to the shop last week and didn't have a spare driver for a ride home, so I borrowed a trailer and transported it about 25 miles that way. Easy as could be.
The key is to make sure the vehicle is properly secured and strapped so that it is held firmly when it gets BOTH acceleration and deceleration forces. You can control your acceleration, but you can't control when the guy in front of you does something stupid and you have to stop quickly.
Do a search on towing a vehicle and there are plenty of tips available to help you do it safely.
Good luck!
