Traction Control and ABS MIL on
Working on my 1996 XJR resurrection I took it out for its first test drive after repairs to the engine and transmission, as soon as I reached 25 mph the ANTI-LOCK and TRAC FAIL lights came on along with the tell tale TRAC OFF resets with the ignition turned off but as soon as you reach 25 mph its back on. Anyone have any tips on where to start fault finding? I did notice the wiring in the small motor under the throttle pedestal has perished but doesn't look like its shorted out.
Thanks

1. Scan the code! see what is it first, could be anything.
2. I had the same thing with my XJR6 and after pulling code i know it is c1095 which is module circuit failure, that can be fixed either by resoldering or you can send the entire module to module master to fix.
3. I actually did not send the module out at first, instead i cleaned all my wheel speed sensors and I bleed all my brakes and changed the fluid and the code never came back again.
So bottom line is i suggest getting the code first then you may proceed on which way to go.

The module is near the fire wall on the passenger side(Right side) of the engine bay. One of the X300 masters suggested a soft tap with your hand to the side of it when mine had the same fault, this was about 6 months ago and I haven't had any problems since:-) It also probably means the wiring is old and cracked and will need to be fixed as mentioned above
+1 to the best advice already given: read the codes.....being aware that it will require a somewhat specialized reader as you are looking for chassis, or C-codes, your standard, run-of-the-mill OBDII won't cut it. If you confirm C1095 and fancy DIY:

Just FYI for those searching: I have an Innova 3030f scanner bought at O'Reilly for (I think) $70, that successfully read the C-codes, returning C1258, C1259 & C1095.
