Traction Control: Pressure Concious Control Valve?
reetings,
Hope someone can shed some light on the following topic re a leak at my 2 Pressure Conscious Reducing Valves (PCRV). Attached to the Hydraulic Module (Traction Control). Please see photos below.
I have had a very small leak around the PCRV for some time now but only recently became an issue as the leak gotten worse and more noticeable (stripping some of my paint underneath the leak) ..,
2 New PCR Valves (MNA5818AC) are quite pricey especially with postage & all installation procedures.
Have had a search but cant really find anyone that had such a problem and or a possible repair? Is this something that a hydraulic shop can rebuilt (renew rubbers / replace valves / etc) or just an item that needs replacement if faulty
?
Thinking about pulling them next week to send away for testing at a hydraulic shop but dont want to waste my time and money if not even a possibility it could be repaired..,
If anyone ever had an issue with theirs and found an solution please let me know?
Thanks in advance.
Regards.

Hi Cafcpete,
No I also have a 1996 Jaguar XJR6. The photos was taken from my car.
The part # MNA5818AC (see photos attached). Think all X300 have these x2 Pressure Conscious Reducing Valves (PCRV).
Some people "apparently" have installed straight connectors (without pressure reducing valves) with no notable effect on the back brakes .., the guys at the Brake Shop also said it might be an solution but I would like to make sure and preferably not repeat the "bleeding process" again if not working (eg: brakes locking up too
fast)..,
Regards.
Numbers 3 & 4.

Ok, sorry a misunderstanding. That is part of the ABS system (I know the parts catalog talks about ‘traction control’).
Never had to play with that, thank heavens, so no practical help to offer sadly.
Which part of the valve is leaking? I would think just a bit of sealant around the thread as you tighten the bit with the leak would fix it!

Hi Cafcpete,
Not 100 % sure which part of the valve is leaking yet? doesn't look like its from the threads though - almost looks like from under the rubber O ring on the underside of the Valves. Think there might be an escape passage / opening hole for if the valve becomes buggered.
After reading the below discussion and watching the youtube clip posted in the thread by Doug I do think this might be my problem. Worth a read if having problems with a "pressure reducing valve".
Probably will take it apart in the coming weeks and have a better look .., might then have to take it to a hydraulics shop for some proper tests and if needs be a possible repair.
Regards.

I have a 1995 X-300 naturally aspirated and my anti lock light stays on as soon as I start driving. I've cleaned the wheel sensors with no success and am getting ready to pull the ABS module to see if the soder fix is needed. Sometimes while driving I hear a clicking noise. Didn't even know about these valves but thank you for the heads up!
