I've been looking for a new jag and came across a VDP 95-97 edition that doesn't have the specific VDP grill or short trunk chrome features but rather the standard grill and standard wide trunk chrome accent piece.

I would imagine swapping the grill is straigh forward, but the trunk piece - are the mounting holes in the same place or would there be holes where the standard longer piece mounts that would be showing if swapped for a proper VDP trim piece?

 

They are all interchangeable. There were only two trunk pressings - small number plate for North America, and long number plate for Europe and ROW.

 

found an old post about this same topic regarding an 01 XJ8 - as i suspected, it sounds like the long trunk chrome piece has attachment points near the ends that if removed for a shorter VDP piece would leave exposed holes in the trunk lid - not to mention the likely paint differences where the chrome used to cover.
