Default Two simple questions

Hello all, I wondered does anyone have the procedure, if such a thing exists, for programming a new ignition (black) key to the car it was cut for. I have come across a procedure for other later models, but nothing for my x300 96 Sovereign. I have programmed remote fobs with no problem, but the key in question open the ignition, lights up the dash and nothing else. I am at present using the valet key and would like to have a back up.

Secondly, what is the procedure for removing the steering wheel. I know about disconnecting the battery and waiting a while for the airbag to settle down etc. but are there any hidden fixings that hold the airbag assembly in place, or does it just snap/clip in place? Many thanks in advance.

I'm 99% sure that the key transponders are not user programmable. You need to go to a Jag dealer.

Many thanks for the response. I had half suspected that the key was a dealer job alright. Just another excuse to take a nice spin. Regarding the steering wheel removal, the link provided wouldn't open for me as I dont have some piece of software installed which is needed. So, back to the drawing board. I dont see any fixings at the back of the steering wheel spokes, behind the airbag assembly, so I am assuming that it is a snap fit of sorts. Can anyone confirm this or point me in the right direction. Thanks again.

Yes, it was probably because you had an antiquated version of Word.

I did and still do! Though I'm a bit antiquated myself, so no worries. Anyway, I saw another post that suggested the missing screws are in close to the centre of the wheel, which must be turned at 90 degrees to reveal them, best accessed by removing the shroud. So, I will do that when I get back from work in a fortnight! Many thanks for the input.
