Default Water in the headlights

Anyone else have this happen?? My two inboard lights have moisture on the inside of the lenses and my pass side outer has actual standing water in it! Is this a problem with where the bulbs attach or is it a problem with the lenses themselves?

Failure of the adhesive between the glass and housing. Fixable but time consuming.

An older thread, but just noticed my passenger (RH) side outer lens has some moisture inside, so I guess the seal is failing.

Any how-to's on rebuilding the bucket and lens?

If not, may be time to consider the X308 light 'upgrade'

.

I had a loose lens on one of the low-beam headlamps on my '96 XJ12. One point was still secure, but you could pull the glass away from the lamp quite far, definitely enough to let moisture in.

It's a matter of removing the chrome surround trim, then gently separating the glass lens from the housing. Make a mark on the bucket and the lens so you align it perfect when you put it back together. The lens on my car had a couple "ears" if I remember correctly, which left an indentation in the original seal, which I wanted to match up later on. I cleaned the bucket gently (the reflective surface came out beautiful) and epoxied the whole thing back together. I haven't gotten any moisture in it, and it's been months. The other side is doing the same thing, so I might need to do that one, too.

Depending upon how loose the lense is you may be able to just pull it off and clean the glass and reflector. I reglued my with marine epoxy and it lasted for two years until I did the X308 upgrade. I would also suggest you pull the entire headlight assembly and not try to pop the individual headlight off the little ball socket posts as they are old and break easily.
