hunterpedigo,
I have moved your post from an unrelated thread in the forum for the S-Type to your own thread in the forum for the X300, which is the Jaguar factory project code for your 1995 Vanden Plas.
If you are seeking instructions for changing the spark plugs, use the forum Search window at the top of this page. This topic has probably been covered previously on the forum, so you may find some helpful photos.
If you don't find any photos, the process should be pretty straightforward:
Remove the three screws that secure the coil cover and lift the cover away. Remove the screws that secure the six coils, one hex-head screw per coil. If necessary, carefully disconnect the electrical connector at each coil The connectors and coils can become brittle with age, so treat them gently. Carefully pull the coils upward to unclip them from the spark plugs.
With the coils removed, you'll have access to the spark plugs.
The X300s use Champion RC12YCC spark plugs, but those have become difficult to find, so most owners use the RC12YC instead. There is no need to spend more money on platinum or iridium plugs or on brands other than Champion. Jaguar specifies a gap of 0.9mm (0.035 in.) or 0.96mm (0.38 in.) if rough idle has been experienced. The plugs should be torqued to 22-28 Nm (17-20 ft.-lbs.). See the links in this post:
